KATHMANDU: Vehicle movement has been suspended on the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunje Besi section of the BP Highway due to possible flood risks.

According to Nepal Police, the restriction was imposed as a precautionary measure against possible flooding.

Authorities had already been stopping vehicle movement on the road from 5 PM to 5 AM since May 4 due to flood risk. However, vehicle operation has now been halted during daytime as well.

Similarly, traffic has also been suspended on the Hilsa-Simikot road section in Humla district.

The road has been closed until May 16 because of ongoing road expansion work in the Chhyaduk area of Namkha Rural Municipality-2. Officials said there is a risk of falling rocks and soil from the hillside.

Meanwhile, the Mid-Hill Highway has been completely blocked at Rangakot in Halesi Tuwachung Municipality-1 of Khotang district after a landslide occurred in the area.
