KATHMANDU: Mini has launched the locally assembled Countryman C in India at a price of 4.75 million Indian rupees (ex-showroom). The model is positioned below the imported JCW All4 variant.
The Countryman C is assembled at BMW’s Chennai plant. It is based on the UKL2 platform, which also underpins the BMW X1. The SUV measures 4,447 mm in length, 1,843 mm in width, and 1,661 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,692 mm.
In terms of design, the SUV carries Mini’s signature styling. It features an octagonal front grille, adaptive LED headlamps, a clamshell bonnet, and redesigned LED taillights. It also gets 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and champagne exterior accents.
The cabin follows a minimalist layout. It is highlighted by a circular 9.4-inch OLED touchscreen at the center. The SUV also offers a 2-spoke steering wheel, panoramic glass roof, massage function for the driver seat, wireless charging, head-up display, 360-degree camera, and park assist.
Powering the Countryman C is a 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. It produces 154 BHP and 240 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 seconds, with a claimed top speed of 212 km/h.
The Countryman C competes in the premium compact SUV segment. It rivals models such as the Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA in the Indian market.
