KATHMANDU: Ather Energy’s authorized distributor in Nepal, Vaidya Energy, is rapidly expanding its fast-charging network across the country. The company plans to increase the number of Ather Grid fast chargers from more than 40 to 100 within the next six months to strengthen Nepal’s EV ecosystem.
Salman Khan, Sales Head of Vaidya Energy, said the company aims to install around 100 fast-charging stations by the end of 2026. He added that at least 85 stations are expected to be operational by then.
The company is currently prioritizing major cities, including Pokhara, Biratnagar, Hetauda, and Birgunj. Fast chargers are also being installed along key highway corridors such as Kulekhani-Hetauda, Nagdhunga-Mugling, Mugling-Pokhara, Narayanghat-Hetauda, Hetauda-Birgunj, and Bardibas-Biratnagar.
“We are focusing not only on scooter sales but also on charging infrastructure, spare parts, and after-sales service,” Khan said. “Customer convenience is our top priority. We already have more than 40 fast chargers across Nepal and are working to expand the network aggressively.”
He said a strong charging ecosystem is essential for building customer confidence and making long-distance EV travel more convenient.
While more than 30 electric scooter brands are available in Nepal, only a few have invested in charging infrastructure. Ather has continued to expand its ecosystem alongside vehicle sales, helping strengthen customer trust in the brand.
Free fast charging till 2027
Vaidya Energy is also offering free charging at all Ather Grid fast-charging stations across Nepal. According to Khan, other owners can use more than 40 fast chargers nationwide without paying any charging fee until the end of 2027.
He said the initiative is aimed at reducing ownership costs while improving the overall EV ownership experience.
The company is also expanding its retail and service network. It currently operates 12 experience centers across Nepal, including five in the Kathmandu Valley, along with outlets in Pokhara, Chitwan, Itahari, Butwal, and Janakpur. It also has nine service centers nationwide.
Ather has become one of Nepal’s best-selling electric scooter brands. Since entering the Nepali market in November 2023, the company has sold around 4,000 scooters. Its current lineup includes the Ather 450X and Ather Rizta electric scooters.
