KATHMANDU: Yamaha has officially opened pre-bookings for the XSR 155 motorcycle in Nepal, ahead of its market launch.
MAW Rides, Yamaha’s authorized distributor in Nepal, has started accepting bookings for the neo-retro motorcycle. Customers can reserve the bike with a Rs. 5,000 booking amount through Yamaha showrooms or online.
The XSR 155 will be available in four variants: BMC, VRC 1, WMC, and SMX. Prices start at Rs. 529,900 for the BMC variant, followed by Rs. 539,900 for the VRC 1, Rs. 549,900 for the WMC, and Rs. 559,900 for the top-spec SMX variant.
While Yamaha has not announced an official launch date, the motorcycle is expected to make its Nepal debut at the NADA Auto Show, scheduled for September.
The XSR 155 has already been on sale in India for several months and was available in other international markets before its Indian launch. Nepal will now become one of the latest markets to receive the model.
Inspired by Yamaha’s global XSR lineup, the motorcycle combines classic styling with modern design elements. It shares its platform and engine with the Yamaha R15 and MT-15, targeting riders looking for a retro-inspired motorcycle with contemporary performance.
The motorcycle features a Delta Box frame, a round LED headlamp, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a flat single-piece seat, a 10-liter fuel tank, 137 kg curb weight, and 170 mm ground clearance.
Power comes from a 155 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). The engine produces 18.4 PS of power and 14.2 Nm of torque and is paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring an assist and slipper clutch.
The suspension setup includes USD front forks and a link-type rear monoshock, while braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS. Other highlights include tubeless tires, color-matched alloy wheels, a fully digital LCD instrument cluster with Y-Connect smartphone connectivity, call and SMS alerts, full LED lighting, daytime running lights (DRLs), traction control, and an electric starter.
