KATHMANDU: TVS Motor Company plans to increase its production capacity to meet rising demand for two-wheelers, three-wheelers and electric vehicles in India.
The company currently has an annual production capacity of around 6.8 million two-wheelers. It plans to add another 1.5 million units by mid-2027. Its three-wheeler production capacity will also increase from 250,000 to around 420,000 units.
TVS reported record sales, revenue and profit in the second quarter of fiscal year 2027. Its combined two-wheeler and three-wheeler sales rose 27% year-on-year to a record 1.9 million units.
Demand for electric scooters also continued to grow. TVS’s domestic electric two-wheeler sales increased 129% during the quarter, compared with industry growth of 84%. The growth was mainly driven by the iQube electric scooter, which crossed 1 million cumulative sales in July 2026. The company also sells the Orbiter and the flagship TVS X electric scooters.
TVS’s three-wheeler business recorded strong growth as well. The Jupiter scooter range crossed 9 million cumulative sales since its launch in 2013, while the iQube continued to strengthen its position in the electric scooter market.
