KATHMANDU: Buyers looking for a small and affordable electric car are set to get a new option in Nepal. The fifth-generation Wuling Hongguang Mini EV is scheduled to make its Nepal debut at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026.
The model will be sold in Nepal simply as the Mini EV. Unlike the earlier Air Mini EV sold in the country, the new model comes with five doors, making it more practical for everyday use.
The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV has already crossed 19 million units in global sales. The fifth-generation model measures 3,268 mm in length, 1,520 mm in width and 1,575 mm in height.
The Mini EV has been designed with urban mobility in mind. Its compact dimensions should make it easy to drive through narrow city streets and park in tight spaces.
The car gets smartphone connectivity along with several safety features. These include an electronic parking brake, dual airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold control, traction control, hydraulic brake assist and auto hold.
It also gets a high-definition reverse camera and rear parking sensors. The use of high-strength steel further adds to the safety package.
The car comes with disc brakes on all four wheels. Its chassis has also been designed with urban driving and passenger comfort in mind.
The Mini EV is powered by a 30 kW three-in-one electric motor. It offers three driving modes: Standard, Eco and Sport.
The regenerative braking system also comes with three levels: Comfort, Standard and Strong.
The car supports DC fast charging. According to the company, the battery can be charged from 30 percent to 80 percent in around 35 minutes.
In markets such as China and Indonesia, the Mini EV is available with 16.2 kWh and 25.1 kWh battery options. The larger battery offers a claimed CLTC range of up to 300 km.
The exact battery options, variants and pricing for Nepal are expected to be announced at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo. With its compact size, practical features and expected affordable pricing, the new Mini EV could appeal to urban buyers looking for an entry-level electric car.
