KATHMANDU: The Home Ministry has urged the public to avoid traveling on roads along the Trishuli River following flooding in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa.
The ministry has advised against traveling on the Prithvi Highway, Galchhi-Nuwakot-Rasuwa-Syafrubesi road, and the Muglin-Narayangadh road.
It has also asked concerned authorities to completely restrict movement in river areas of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and Chitwan.
Families living along riverbanks in Rasuwa, Dhading, Gorkha, Chitwan, and Nuwakot have been urged to move to safer locations.
Traffic police have stopped vehicles traveling towards these districts from Kathmandu as a precaution.
Following Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s directive, concerned agencies have mobilized their resources and intensified search, rescue, and relief operations in the flood-affected areas.
The District Disaster Management authorities have also increased preparedness. Nepal Police, Armed Police Force Nepal, and local administrations are carrying out rescue and search operations, while the Nepali Army has also mobilized its resources.
Two Nepali Army helicopters equipped with medical teams have been sent towards the affected areas for possible rescue and relief operations under the prime minister’s direction. Private helicopter companies have also been kept on standby for search and rescue operations.
