KATHMANDU: Bentley has released the first official details of its upcoming all-electric SUV, which promises to be one of the fastest-charging EVs on the market.

Bentley’s electric SUV, arriving in 2027, can add around 160 km of range in just 7 minutes of charging. It uses a 350 kW fast-charging system.

The luxury brand describes the new vehicle as a compact urban SUV positioned below the Bentayga. At less than five meters long, it will be Bentley’s shortest SUV, designed for city use with a tight turning radius.

Head of R&D Matthias Rabe said the new EV is “as comfortable as a Flying Spur and as agile as a Continental GT,” calling it “the best Bentley on the road.”

Built on the PPE platform co-developed by Porsche and Audi, the SUV will share technology with the upcoming all-electric Cayenne.

The new Cayenne, which serves as a reference point, features dual-motor all-wheel drive, a 108kWh battery, and up to 805bhp output, delivering around 600 km of range.

Bentley CEO Frank Walliser confirmed that the company’s EV launch schedule remains unchanged despite slower global EV demand.

The first all-electric Bentley will be unveiled by the end of next year, with deliveries starting in 2027.

The interior will feature 30 square meters of leather, stitched with 130,000 stitches using 150 meters of thread, according to Autocar UK.
