KATHMANDU: Saudi Arabia’s first homegrown EV brand, Ceer, has revealed its new flagship electric SUV and sedan, called EXOBOT.
Ceer was first launched in 2022 by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). It is the country’s first ever electric vehicle brand and auto manufacturer.
The EXOBOT SUV and sedan were unveiled on Monday by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud himself, who also chairs the board of PIF.
These two models are part of a bigger plan. Ceer intends to launch seven vehicles in total over the next five years, ranging from compact to midsize cars, with different propulsion options. The company has not shared full details on the rest of the lineup yet.
All these vehicles will be built at the Ceer Manufacturing Complex (CMC), which the company describes as the largest automotive production facility in the Middle East, and one of the most advanced in the world.
Ceer says its cars are locally designed and engineered, built to global standards, positioning Saudi Arabia as an emerging name in the world auto industry.
The EXOBOT SUV comes with a large 112 kWh battery, giving an estimated NEDC range of up to 560 km. It uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing a combined 850 horsepower, letting it sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds.
The SUV’s 800-volt architecture enables it to charge from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes.
It also comes loaded with tech, including steer-by-wire with a steering yoke, rear-wheel steering, adaptive dual-chamber air suspension, and multiple drive modes.
Inside, there’s a pillar-to-pillar 48-inch curved display called the “Digital Horizon,” 3D navigation, camera-based mirrors instead of traditional ones, and Ceer’s own voice assistant.
In terms of size, the SUV measures 5,016 mm in length, 2,101 mm in width, and 1,693 mm in height, with a 3,200 mm wheelbase.
Prices haven’t been announced yet, but the SUV will come in a Limited Launch Edition as well as a fully customizable Plus variant.
The EXOBOT sedan shares similar performance figures, with 850 hp and the same 2.6-second 0-100 km/h time, but offers a longer NEDC range of up to 670 km.
It measures 5,260 mm in length, 2,102 mm in width, and 1,428 mm in height, with the same 3,200 mm wheelbase as the SUV.
Ceer is expected to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 by helping to diversify the economy beyond oil. It has partnered with Hyundai Transys and Rimac to develop electric drive technology for its upcoming EVs.
