KATHMANDU: CG Motors is preparing to launch a new electric hatchback, the Aion UT, right after the Dashain festival.

The company had initially planned to showcase the car at the 2025 NADA Auto Show. Later, its launch got delayed due to the closure of the Nepal-China border points and the attack on the company’s state-of-the-art showroom in Thapathali during the Gen Z protest.

The Aion UT, which is manufactured by the Chinese company GAC Motor, is being introduced at a highly competitive price point, according to the company. The hatchback is already popular in China, where it competes directly with the BYD Dolphin.

In terms of pricing, it is cheaper than Dolphin by around $1,350. This gives the company a strong edge in the growing EV hatchback segment.
