KATHMANDU: YouTuber WhistlinDiesel has concluded his controversial Cybertruck durability series by crashing a Tesla Cybertruck into a Ford F-150 at 179 km/h in a controlled test on a drag strip.
The stunt was part of a three-part series comparing the durability of the two pickup trucks. Neither vehicle had occupants during the crash. The Cybertruck was modified for remote operation, with mechanical actuators controlling the steering, throttle, and brakes.
Before the final impact, both trucks were subjected to a series of off-road and endurance tests. During a trip to Moab, the Cybertruck suffered a towing module failure that ended its off-road run early. The F-150 continued despite severe damage and only stopped after wiring issues developed.
For the final test, the remotely driven Cybertruck accelerated down the drag strip before striking the stationary Ford F-150 broadside at an indicated 179 km/h.
The impact destroyed both vehicles. The Ford’s cab separated from its chassis as the collision triggered a fireball, leaving the pickup heavily mangled. The Cybertruck was also destroyed, although its body remained more recognizable immediately after the crash.
