KATHMANDU: MG is preparing to launch the HS Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) in Nepal. The SUV will make its public debut at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026, expanding MG’s electrified lineup in the country.
The MG HS Plug-in Hybrid has gained strong acceptance in international markets by combining electric driving capability with the flexibility of a petrol engine. The model is expected to appeal to Nepali buyers looking for long electric range without worrying about charging availability.
Paramount Motors, the official distributor of MG in Nepal, had previously sold the petrol-powered HS in good numbers. However, demand shifted towards electric vehicles in recent years, leading to a decline in sales of petrol SUVs.
The new HS PHEV is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 135 kW electric motor. The combined system produces 295 bhp, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds.

Its biggest highlight is the electric-only driving range. MG claims the HS Plug-in Hybrid can travel up to 120 km on electric power alone. Independent real-world tests have reported an EV-only range of more than 110 km, making it one of the longest-range plug-in hybrids in its class.
The SUV also offers low emissions. MG says the HS Plug-in Hybrid emits just 12 g/km of CO₂, significantly lower than a conventional petrol vehicle. In several international markets, such low emissions qualify the model for EV-related tax incentives.
Inside, the HS PHEV offers a spacious cabin and a 507-liter boot, one of the largest in the segment.
The dashboard features dual 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. The SUV also comes equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels, heated leatherette seats, a 360-degree camera, and keyless entry.
Higher variants are expected to offer additional features such as ventilated front seats, a head-up display, and wireless smartphone charging.
MG is expected to announce the Nepal-spec variants, pricing, and launch timeline during the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026.
