EV catches fire in Chitwan, one dead

KATHMANDU: One person was killed after a GAC ​​Aion Y electric car caught fire while driving in Basant Chowk, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-9, Chitwan, on Friday morning.

According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, the electric car, bearing registration number Bagmati Province 01-030 Cha 5579, caught fire while traveling west along the service lane of the East-West Highway.

The fire was brought under control with the help of a fire engine. However, one person inside the car died in the incident. The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.

The cause of the fire has not been established. Police said an investigation is underway to determine how the EV caught fire while it was being driven.
