KATHMANDU: Ferrari has made it clear that it has no plans to build fully autonomous vehicles. The Italian sports car maker says driving pleasure will remain at the heart of every Ferrari.
Speaking to international media, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna said the company will not produce self-driving cars. He said Ferrari customers buy its vehicles to enjoy driving, not to let a computer take control.
“We will not make fully autonomous cars,” Vigna said. He added that Ferrari’s focus is on creating cars that people love to drive.
The company will continue to develop driver-assistance technologies. However, Ferrari says the driver will always remain in charge of the vehicle.
At the same time, Ferrari has confirmed that it will continue offering petrol, hybrid and electric models. According to Vigna, the company wants to give customers more choices rather than replace one technology with another.

Ferrari recently unveiled its first fully electric model, the Luce. The new EV produces up to 772 kW of power and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds.
Vigna said Ferrari’s future will include internal combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles. Customers can choose the powertrain they prefer, but every Ferrari must deliver an engaging driving experience.
While several automakers are investing heavily in autonomous technology, Ferrari is taking a different path. The company says advanced technology is welcome, but the joy of driving will always come first.
