KATHMANDU: Ferrari is preparing to launch its first fully electric car in 2026. The new model, reportedly codenamed Elettrica, will deliver over 1,000 hp from four electric motors, one on each wheel.

The rear motors alone produce 843hp, helping the car accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 310 km/h. Ferrari says the car can travel more than 530 km on a full charge.

The Elettrica uses an in-house developed chassis designed for performance and comfort. It uses active suspension technology from the Purosangue SUV and the F80 hypercar. The system smoothly switches between two-wheel and all-wheel drive to improve efficiency and control.

Power comes from a 122kWh 800V NMC battery with high energy capacity and strong safety features. It is placed low in the chassis to keep the car stable and well-balanced.

Ferrari has also developed a special sound system that captures and amplifies vibrations from the powertrain, giving the EV a signature Ferrari feel.

The upcoming four-door, four-seater grand tourer marks a major step for Ferrari as it enters the electric era while keeping its signature performance and emotion intact.
