KATHMANDU: Kia has released a teaser confirming that it will introduce a new battery electric vehicle (BEV) and a hybrid SUV in the Indian market. While the company has not officially revealed the models, they are expected to be the Kia Syros EV and a new Sorento-inspired hybrid SUV.
The upcoming Syros EV is likely to be based on Kia’s K1 platform. It is expected to be offered with two battery options: a 42 kWh pack with an estimated range of around 300 km and a 49 kWh pack offering up to 355 km on a single charge.
Kia is also expected to unveil a new flagship hybrid SUV for India. The model is reportedly based on the underpinnings of the global Kia Sorento but is being developed specifically for the Indian market.
The hybrid SUV is expected to use a new 1.5-liter petrol-hybrid powertrain. It will compete with premium SUVs such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, and Toyota Fortuner.
Kia has not announced an official launch date or revealed further technical details. More information is expected in the coming months.
