KATHMANDU: Geely has launched an updated version of the Panda Mini Karting Edition in China with a new CATL-made LFP battery. The small electric hatchback is available at a limited-time starting price of USD 6,540.
The Panda Mini was originally launched in China in 2023 to compete with models such as the Wuling Mini EV, Chery QQ Ice Cream and Changan Lumin. It has recorded more than 426,700 cumulative domestic deliveries. However, sales have declined sharply, with 23,377 units sold between January and July 2026.
The updated Karting Edition gets a sportier look with a front lip and a large roof-mounted rear wing. These are mainly cosmetic additions, as the car has a top speed of 100 km/h.
The Panda Mini measures 3,150 mm long, 1,540 mm wide and 1,685 mm tall, with a 2,015 mm wheelbase. It rides on 14-inch wheels and is available in five exterior colors. The cabin gets Black & White or Pink & White themes, along with a 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen.
Other features include a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors and two front airbags. The boot offers 69 liters of space.
The biggest update is the 17.2 kWh CATL LFP battery, replacing the previous 17.03 kWh battery supplied by Gotion. Geely says the new battery has passed 76 safety tests.
The Panda Mini Karting offers up to 210 km of CLTC range, equivalent to around 172 km under WLTP testing. The battery supports 22 kW DC charging and can charge from 30% to 80% in about 30 minutes.
Power comes from a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 30 kW (40 hp). The top speed remains limited to 100 km/h.
