Finance minister inspects damaged car showroom

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal has inspected car showrooms destroyed in arson attacks during the Gen Z movement.

On Tuesday, he reached Thapathali along with Finance Secretary Ghanashyam Upadhyay to observe the situation. Minister Khanal, who assumed office on Monday, visited the affected areas to express support for the suffering businessmen.

He took information about the losses caused by arson and vandalism. He also assured that the government will provide necessary assistance.

During the protest on September 9 more than a dozen car showrooms in Thapathali were set on fire and vandalized. Businessmen have suffered losses worth crores.

Showrooms of Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Tata, Xpeng and Aion were completely burnt down, along with the vehicles inside. Hyundai, Citroen and other showrooms were also vandalized.

The Finance Minister further inspected the Koteshwor branch of Bhatbhateni, which was also destroyed in the arson attack.
