KATHMANDU: The MG4 with semi-solid state battery packs has been approved for sale in China.
It is the first mass-production EV under the SAIC Group to get approval for solid-state battery technology.
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released official photos and registration details of the MG4 Semi-Solid Anxin Edition. Official pricing will be announced in September. Mass deliveries are planned before the end of the year.
Pre-sales have started, with prices between USD 10,150 and USD 14,550.
The new MG4 Semi-Solid Anxin Edition is equipped with a manganese-based lithium-ion battery supplied by Suzhou Qingtao Power Technology Co., Ltd. Specific battery capacity and range details for this variant are yet to be confirmed.
The model retains a rounded exterior design, less aggressive than the previous generation. It features a front fascia and wide-body styling inspired by the MG Cyberster, an LED-backlit MG logo, redesigned headlights and large air intakes.

The vehicle measures 4,395 mm in length, 1,842 mm in width and 1,551 mm in height, with a 2,750 mm wheelbase. At the rear, it sports through-type taillights with arrow-shaped indicators and a relocated license plate holder.
Inside, the MG4 gets a redesigned cabin with a larger 15.6-inch floating display, replacing mechanical buttons with touch controls. A new handheld shift mechanism replaces the rotary dial and a 50W wireless phone charging pad is added.
The model also debuts the Zhixing car-machine interconnection system, co-developed with OPPO, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip.

In terms of performance, the MG4 uses a single-motor setup delivering 120 kW and 250 Nm of torque.
Pre-sale models offer lithium iron phosphate battery packs of 42.8 kWh and 53.95 kWh, providing CLTC ranges of 437 km and 530 km.
