KATHMANDU: Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer Higer Bus Company is set to launch a 32-seater electric luxury bus in the Nepali market.
The bus will be distributed by its authorized dealer Shasheela Motors, which is preparing to begin sales of the 8.2-meter-long electric coach. The company is bringing the model at a time when global petroleum supply remains uncertain due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
Shasheela Motors has priced the electric bus at Rs 16.49 million, positioning it at a similar cost level to conventional diesel-powered buses.
The upcoming electric coach is equipped with a 216 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. On a full charge, the company claims a driving range of up to 350 km.
For performance, the bus is powered by a 250 kW electric motor. According to the distributor, the model is designed for long-distance operations and offers a premium seating experience.
The bus is expected to arrive in Nepal within the next few days. With this launch, the company aims to promote electric mobility in the commercial transport segment and gradually replace diesel-powered buses.
Shasheela Motors has already been active in Nepal’s EV space, previously introducing electric microbuses in the market.
