KATHMANDU: Honda dominated Nepal’s internal combustion engine (ICE) scooter market, accounting for nearly half of the scooters imported over the first six months of 2025.

A total of 46,605 scooters were imported into the country in the first half of 2025. Honda alone imported 20,583 units, or 44.16% of the total imports, during the review period.

Syakar Trading Company represents Honda in Nepal. The company has been selling Dio 110, Dio 125 and Grazia scooters in the Nepali market.

Although TVS led the market in the first three months of 2025, Honda regained the top spot from the fourth month onwards due to the strong demand for Dio 125. It has since maintained its dominance in the market.

TVS is in the second place with a market share of 30.55%. Jagdamba Motors, the authorized distributor of TVS in Nepal, imported 14,240 units between January and June. The company has been selling Ntorq and Jupiter scooters in Nepal.

TVS dominated the market for two straight years with the launch of Ntorq 125 scooters in Nepal. However, Ntorq 125 sales have been affected with the launch of Honda Dio 125 and Yamaha RayZ R 125.

Although TVS led the market in the first three months of 2025, Honda regained the top spot from the fourth month onwards due to strong demand for the Dio 125.

Yamaha, which is in the third place, is far behind Honda and TVS in terms of imports. MAW Ride, the authorized Yamaha distributor in Nepal, imported 9,745 units in the six-month period. This translates into a 20.91% market share for the Japanese brand in the Nepali market.

MAW Ride has been selling Yamaha’s Fascino, RayZ R, NMAX and Aerox scooters in Nepal.

Vespa/Aprilia is fourth in terms of scooter imports. Delta AutoCorp, the authorized Vespa/Aprilia distributor in Nepal, imported 1,140 units over the first six months of 2025.
