KATHMANDU : Japanese automaker Honda is preparing to launch two new models in India next year. The lineup will include the facelifted Honda Elevate and the company’s first electric SUV to be manufactured in India.
After a relatively quiet period of new product launches, Honda is now gearing up to strengthen its SUV portfolio with an updated Elevate and a brand-new electric model, internally known as Project Zero Alpha.
In Nepal, Syakar Trading currently sells the Honda Elevate. The upcoming electric SUV is also expected to reach the Nepali market after its India launch.
Honda is expected to introduce the facelifted Elevate with a refreshed exterior design. The updates are likely to include a revised front bumper, grille, headlamps, and changes to the rear styling.
The cabin is also expected to receive several upgrades. Reports suggest the SUV will feature ventilated front seats and a 360-degree camera. The facelift is expected to retain the existing 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 121 PS and 145 Nm of torque.
Honda is also preparing its first fully electric SUV to be built in India. The model, currently known by the codename Project Zero Alpha, has already been spotted testing on Indian roads.
The electric SUV is expected to be based on Honda’s dedicated EV platform. It is likely to be offered with a 50 kWh to 70 kWh battery pack, delivering an estimated driving range of 450 to 500 km on a full charge.
Honda has not yet announced the official launch date or technical specifications, but the new EV is expected to play a key role in the brand’s electrification strategy for India and other regional markets, including Nepal.
