KATHMANDU: Hyundai is preparing an all-new generation of the Kona, skipping the usual mid-cycle facelift. The upcoming model is expected to arrive as a 2027 model year vehicle, according to Carscoops.
The new Kona will feature a completely redesigned exterior inspired by the Crater Concept. It adopts a more boxy and muscular design with clean lines. The front gets a pixel-style DRL strip with integrated LED headlamps placed below.
Compared to the current model, the design looks more cohesive and less complex. It also features a clamshell hood, strong wheel arch cladding, and a connected LED light bar at the rear.

Inside, Hyundai will introduce its new Pleos Connect infotainment system. The cabin is expected to offer better materials and more rear seat space. Advanced driver assistance features, including Level 2 highway assist, will also be offered.
The new Kona will be based on an updated K3 platform. It will support multiple powertrain options, including gasoline, hybrid, and fully electric versions.

The hybrid setup is likely to use a 1.6-liter engine paired with an electric motor. It is expected to produce around 151 hp in front-wheel-drive form and up to 176 hp with all-wheel drive.
Some markets may also get a 2.0-liter petrol engine and a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine producing around 190 hp.
Hyundai is expected to officially unveil the new Kona within the next 12 months.
