KATHMANDU: Leapmotor is set to upgrade its popular C10 SUV, which has enjoyed significant success in Nepal.

The C10 will be upgraded from its current 400-volt architecture to a more advanced 800-volt platform. According to Leapmotor, this will enhance the performance and charging capabilities of the car. The upgraded C10 is scheduled to launch in China by the first half of 2025.

Leapmotor has been aggressively expanding into global markets, thanks to its partnership with European auto major Stellantis. It has already announced plans to start production in India.

The updated C10 will feature a 74.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which, paired with the 800-volt system, enables high-speed charging and discharging for improved efficiency, according to the company. The current Chinese variant of the car is equipped with a 160 kW motor. The new model will be fitted with a more powerful 220 kW motor for the Chinese market. However, motor specifications for the international version have yet to be announced.

Another major enhancement is the inclusion of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P processor to power its infotainment system. The updated C10 will also feature integrated LiDAR sensors, electric-powered door handles, and a 50 kW wireless charging pad.

Shangrila Motors, the official distributor of Leapmotor for Nepal, is currently selling the C10 and T03 models. The B10, which was recently unveiled at the China Auto Show, is expected to launch in the Nepali market shortly.
