KATHMANDU: Maruti Suzuki has formally showcased its first electric SUV for the Indian market, the e Vitara. The company will open bookings soon in India, with sales scheduled to begin in January 2026.
The e Vitara will be offered in three trims; Delta, Zeta, and Alpha, along with two battery choices: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The entry-level Delta variant will feature the smaller battery, while the Zeta and Alpha grades will come equipped with the 61 kWh pack.
Maruti Suzuki reports that the 61 kWh battery delivers an ARAI-certified driving range of up to 543 km. Details of the range for the 49 kWh version and the specifications of the electric motor have not yet been released.
Maruti Suzuki says the e-Vitara will offer Battery-as-a-Service, an assured buyback plan, and a subscription option for the Indian market.
The company is working with 13 charging point operators across India and aims to have 2,000 chargers operational at launch.
For after-sales support in India, Maruti reports that 1,500 service outlets are EV-ready, including 500 workshops equipped for dedicated EV maintenance.

The e Vitara has received a 5-star rating from Bharat NCAP. It scored 31.49 out of 32 points for adult occupant safety and 43 out of 49 points for child occupant protection. The crash tests were conducted on the Alpha 61 kWh variant, with results applicable to the Delta 49 kWh and Zeta 61 kWh versions as well.
Standard safety and convenience features include seven airbags, Level-2 ADAS, a high-tensile strength steel structure, TPMS, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold, and all-wheel disc brakes.
The e-Vitara was previously displayed at the NADA Auto Show 2025 in Kathmandu. The model is expected to enter the Nepali market once sales begin in India, and the same India-spec version is likely to be introduced in Nepal.
