KATHMANDU: The 150cc motorcycle segment remains one of the best-selling categories in Nepal. It offers a balanced mix of price, mileage, and practicality. This makes it a popular choice for daily commuters, small business users, and ride-sharing riders.

In the Nepali market, brands like Bajaj, Yamaha, Benelli, CFMoto, and Zontes offer multiple options in this segment. These motorcycles are known for simple design, reliable engines, and low maintenance costs, making them suitable for both urban and rural use.

There is a significant price gap of over Rs 200,000 in the 150cc segment. Currently, prices range from around Rs 321,500 to Rs 539,900.

Bajaj offers multiple options including the Pulsar 150 (single disc and twin disc) and the Pulsar N150. The Pulsar 150 remains one of the most popular bikes in Nepal due to its proven performance and affordability.

The Pulsar N150, a newer model, is priced around Rs 365,000 in Nepal.

Yamaha provides a wider lineup under the FZ and FZS series, with multiple variants targeting different buyers. Prices start from around Rs 366,900 and go up to nearly Rs 489,900 for higher variants.

Among other brands, the Benelli TNT 150i, CFMoto 150NK, and Zontes 150 are available as single-variant models. The CFMoto 150NK is the most affordable option in this group, while the Zontes 150 sits at the premium end of the segment.

Most 150cc motorcycles come with similar core features. These include LED lighting, disc brakes, ABS, and digital instrument clusters.

In terms of performance, all models use engines around 150cc capacity. This results in similar power output and riding characteristics. Riders can expect smooth performance, light clutch operation, and stable handling for daily use.

Design is another key highlight. Almost all models feature sporty styling and aggressive LED headlamps, which appeal to younger buyers.

Bajaj Pulsar has built a strong reputation in Nepal over the years. It is widely seen as a practical and value-for-money option.

Yamaha, on the other hand, focuses on refinement and premium riding feel. Its FZ series has created a separate identity in the market.

Benelli, CFMoto, and Zontes are less common but offer unique designs and feature-rich packages for buyers looking for something different.

More options in 155-160cc segment

Buyers also have the option to move slightly higher to the 155cc and 160cc categories. Popular models include Yamaha R15, MT-15, Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR series, Hero Xtreme, Bajaj NS160, and Honda Hornet.

These bikes offer more power and advanced features. However, they also come with higher taxes compared to 150cc motorcycles.

The 150cc segment continues to be a practical choice in Nepal. It delivers a good balance of cost, performance, and efficiency.
