KATHMANDU: Tata Motors has announced a lifetime battery warranty on its two electric vehicles — the Nexon EV and the Curvv EV.
According to the company, the lifetime warranty applies to the 45-kilowatt battery packs used in both models. “Customers will receive coverage for up to 15 years or unlimited kilometers, whichever comes first,” the company said.
The company has clarified that the “lifetime warranty” is based on the standard assumption that a car has a lifespan of 15 years. The ‘lifetime warranty’ on battery will enhance customer confidence and promotes a worry-free ownership experience, it added.
It is not clear whether Nexon EV and Curvv EV customers in Nepal will get the same lifetime battery warranty.
The lifetime battery warranty will be available to both first-time buyers and existing customers. However, it will not apply if the vehicle is resold to a new owner.
Previously, Tata Motors offered an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty, whichever comes first, on its EV batteries.
It is not clear whether Nexon EV and Curvv EV customers in Nepal will get the same lifetime battery warranty. An official of Sipradi Trading, the authorized distributor of Tata vehicles in the Nepali market, told MeroAuto that they have yet to receive official communication about the scheme.
