KATHMANDU: Tata Motors is set to bring a new facelift model of its popular small sedan, the Tigor, to the market soon. The company is preparing to launch the Tigor facelift under a new name this festive season.
The company hasn’t made an official announcement, but reports claim Tata will rename the Tigor as “Tata Aeris.” This is said to replace the Tigor in Tata’s lineup.
Building on the success of the Tiago EV it launched earlier, Tata is also planning to bring a pure electric version of the new sedan, the “Aeris EV,” to market.
The design of the Tata Aeris is expected to draw from the updated Tiago that was unveiled earlier this year. Its front end will be completely new, featuring a slim grille, an attractive new bumper, and fog lamps at the bottom. The sedan is likely to get a full LED lighting setup, including DRLs.
Like the Tigor, the Aeris will keep the fastback style instead of a traditional three-box sedan design. It’s expected to come with new 15-inch alloy wheels. At the back, it should get a new tailgate and a connected LED taillamp setup. Vertical reflectors and a new eye-catching bumper with the “Aeris” lettering will complete the look.
The company aims to give customers a premium cabin experience. The Aeris will use new, higher-quality materials, textures, and finishing. Its dashboard design will be similar to the Tiago’s, with two separate screens and horizontal design elements, although the color scheme will be different.
Features are expected to be similar to those offered in the Tiago. The Tata Aeris may come with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a semi-digital instrument console, cruise control, a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, and wireless phone charging.
The Aeris will continue with the 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic gearbox. This engine produces 86 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. No details about the EV model have been revealed yet.
