KATHMANDU: Vehicles dropping off or picking up passengers at Tribhuvan International Airport will now be allowed to stay for up to 15 minutes without paying a parking fee.

The Tribhuvan International Airport Office introduced the new arrangement to make passenger pick-up and drop-off services more convenient.

Airport spokesperson Sanjay Kumar said the decision was taken after reviewing passenger requirements. Previously, vehicles could stay for up to seven minutes without incurring parking charges.

According to him, many users found the earlier time limit insufficient. The airport has therefore increased the free pick-and-drop period to 15 minutes on a trial basis.

“We have implemented a one-month trial allowing vehicles to use the pick-and-drop area for up to 15 minutes without paying a parking fee. Action will be taken against anyone found charging fees in violation of this arrangement,” he said.
