KATHMANDU: Chinese automaker BAIC and its electric vehicle brand Arcfox are set to enter the Nepali market. The vehicles from both brands will be distributed by a company under Laxmi Group.
According to sources, the company plans to introduce the vehicles in Nepal by April.
Under the BAIC brand, the company will bring the BAIC BJ30 SUV. Positioned as a lifestyle off-road vehicle, the BJ30 will be offered with a hybrid powertrain.
Meanwhile, the Arcfox brand will introduce a pure electric vehicle in Nepal. The company plans to launch the Arcfox T1 in the initial phase. The official specifications for the Nepali market have not yet been disclosed.
Arcfox T1
The Arcfox T1 is a premium electric hatchback. In terms of size, it is comparable to a compact SUV.
The model measures 4,337 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,572 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,770 mm.

Designed with an “extremely pure” styling concept, the T1 features a premium interior with leather upholstery on the seats and dashboard.
The electric hatchback is equipped with a 41.7 kWh LFP battery pack, offering a driving range of over 300 km, while the CLTC-rated range reaches up to 425 km.
BAIC BJ30 Hybrid
The BJ30 is a rugged SUV designed for off-road driving. It is expected to perform well across different road conditions in Nepal.
The SUV comes with a four-wheel-drive system and uses a 1.5-liter turbo engine paired with a dual-motor hybrid setup. It uses a dedicated hybrid transmission and delivers an estimated fuel efficiency of around 15 km per liter.

As an off-road focused vehicle, the BJ30 offers seven drive modes, including Snow, Mud, Sand, and Wading modes in addition to the standard setting.
Inside the cabin, the SUV features premium equipment including a 14.6-inch central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch LCD instrument cluster, 64-color ambient lighting, and leather seats.
