Volkswagen unveils Virtus sedan, Taigun SUV

KATHMANDU: German automobile brand Volkswagen has launched two powerful petrol vehicles in the Nepali market.

Pooja International Nepal Pvt Ltd, the official Volkswagen distributor for Nepal, unveiled the Virtus GT sedan and the new Taigun SUV at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

The base variant of the Taigun is priced at Rs 5.49 million, while the top variant costs Rs 8.9 million. Similarly, the manual transmission variant of the Virtus is priced at Rs 8.4 million and the automatic version at Rs 8.9 million.

The 1500cc engine in both the Virtus and Taigun features cylinder deactivation technology which allows the car to run on two or all four cylinders based on power demand.

Both vehicles are equipped with a powerful 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, which, according to the company, is the most powerful in their segment. Built with advanced German engineering, the cars offer an exceptional combination of safety and high performance.

The 1500cc engine in both the Virtus and Taigun features cylinder deactivation technology which allows the car to run on two or all four cylinders based on power demand. The engine delivers 150 horsepower.

Both models have received a 5-star safety rating from the global NCAP. The Virtus has a ground clearance of 180mm, while the Taigun has 188mm for the Taigun, making them suitable for both urban and rural roads. Their robust chassis, powerful engine and high ground clearance contribute to smooth performance on varied terrain, according to the company.

Additional features in both vehicles include a 7-speed gearbox, six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill Hold Control which enhances both safety and driving comfort.
