KATHMANDU: German automobile giant Volkswagen’s new sedan, the Virtus, has arrived in Nepal.

Pooja International, the authorized Volkswagen distributor in Nepal, is formally unveiling the car on the opening day of NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo, which begins in Kathmandu on August 6.

The Virtus is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. According to the company, the car is designed to offer an impressive balance of a sporty driving experience and luxury comfort.

Manufactured in India, the Virtus features a sharp and modern front design that reflects the brand’s latest design language. One of its visual highlights is the sleek wraparound headlights, which are complemented by tasteful chrome accents on the grille and bumper.

In terms of dimensions, the Virtus is 4,541 mm long, 1,752 mm wide and 1,487 mm tall, and has a 2,651 mm wheelbase. It has a 521-liter boot space.

The interior layout is modern and well-equipped, featuring a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a three-spoke steering wheel, and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. Additional amenities like a sunroof, wireless charging, and an 8-speaker audio system are aimed at appealing to younger buyers.

For comfort and safety, the Virtus includes automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, six airbags, automatic headlights and wipers, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), hill-hold control, ambient lighting, a cooled glovebox, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Electronic Differential Lock (EDS).

Volkswagen has not made the pricing details public.
