KATHMANDU: XPeng Motors is set to officially launch the XPeng X9 Super Extended Range MPV in China on November 20. The model, which offers a combined driving range of up to 1,602 km, began pre-sales on November 6, according to Chinese media reports.

Two variants are available for the XPeng X9. The 1602 Max starts at around USD 48,500, while the higher-spec 1602 Ultra is priced from approximately USD 51,500.

The model features new “Aurora Blue” paint, using the same BASF clear coat seen in luxury brands like Bentley and Rolls-Royce. Inside, it showcases a two-tone “Cloud Rose Brown” theme. The vehicle also introduces the world’s first electric three-row “three-folding” seat system, offering flexible space for camping, biking, pets, and luggage.

On the performance side, the X9 uses an 800V silicon carbide electric drive system with a peak torque of 465 Nm. Even at low battery levels, it maintains power without performance drops. The vehicle also boasts a WLTP fuel consumption of 2.53 L/100 km.

XPeng says 90% of daily driving can be done in pure electric mode.

The company has also partnered with Castrol to develop a special engine oil that needs changing only once every 20,000 km. The X9 aims to deliver quiet, efficient, and long-range mobility for large families and adventure seekers.
