KATHMANDU: Xpeng has introduced the updated 2026 model year G6 and G9 electric crossovers in the Chinese market, bringing major upgrades in assisted driving technology and in-car software.

Both models now support Xpeng’s latest ADAS setup with computing power of up to 2,250 TOPS, along with the second-generation Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model and the new AIOS 6.0 smart cockpit system.

TOPS, or Tera Operations Per Second, is a measure of how fast a car’s onboard computer can process data. In simple terms, higher TOPS means the vehicle can analyze information from cameras and sensors more quickly and accurately.

With up to 2,250 TOPS, the G6 and G9 can support more advanced ADAS features, respond faster in emergency situations, and handle complex driving scenarios more smoothly, helping move closer to near Level-4 assisted driving.

Buyers can choose between two assisted driving packages. The Ultra SE system uses two Xpeng-developed Turing AI chips, delivering 1,500 TOPS, while the higher-end Ultra ADAS system adds a third chip for a total of 2,250 TOPS.

Both systems support Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and Automatic Emergency Steering (AES) at speeds of up to 130 km/h.

Both models also receive the AIOS 6.0 cockpit, which introduces a refreshed “Driving Light” interface design, smoother animations, and improved interaction. A key highlight is 3D lane-level navigation, which Xpeng claims is the first system of its kind that works nationwide in China.

The Xpeng G6 fastback electric SUV measures 4,758 mm in length with a 2,890 mm wheelbase. It uses a single-motor setup producing 218 kW (292 hp) and 450 Nm, paired with 68.5 kWh or 80.8 kWh batteries. Claimed range stands at 625-725 km (CLTC). Updates include a new interior color and an RNC active noise cancellation system. Prices start at around USD 26,270 without Ultra assisted driving features.

The Xpeng G9 keeps its overall design and adds a new exterior color option. It is based on an 800V architecture and offers multiple powertrains. The RWD version delivers 258 kW (346 hp) with up to 725 km CLTC range, while the AWD variant produces 423 kW (567 hp). Prices range from about USD 35,550 to USD 39,840, excluding Ultra ADAS packages.

CG Motors has been retailing Xpeng electric vehicles in Nepal. The Xpeng G6, launched in Nepal last year, has emerged as a strong seller in the premium EV segment and is currently priced at Rs 8.499 million.
