KATHMANDU:Mahindra & Mahindra is set to launch a new pickup truck based on the Scorpio-N in 2027, according to Indian media reports. The model will be rolled out in left-hand-drive (LHD) markets from 2028.

The pickup was first revealed as the Global Pickup Vision Concept in 2023. It is based on the Scorpio-N platform and has been under development since then.

The production-spec version is expected to get a bold grille, muscular wheel arches, and a large loading bay. The final design will be more practical than the concept model.

Mahindra is likely to equip the pickup with Level 2 ADAS, including semi-automatic parking. Features such as 5G connectivity and multiple driving modes are also expected.

The concept version featured a Gen-2 mHawk 2.2-liter diesel engine paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and a four-wheel-drive system. The production model may also offer a petrol engine option.

In addition, Mahindra has confirmed that it will launch two SUV facelifts in CY2026. The company had planned five launches this year, and three models have already gone on sale. These include the XUV 7XO, XEV 9S, and BE 6 Formula E Edition.

One of the upcoming updates is expected to be the Scorpio-N facelift. It may receive a redesigned front end, a new bumper, and updated 5-spoke alloy wheels. Inside, the SUV could get a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster similar to the Thar Roxx.

The second model is likely to be the facelifted three-door Thar.
