KATHMANDU: Laxmi Intercontinental Pvt. Ltd., the official distributor of Hyundai in Nepal, has introduced the long-range version of the Hyundai Creta EV in the domestic market.
The newly launched model comes with a larger battery pack and a more powerful motor.
The Smart (Optional) Long Range variant is priced at Rs 6.996 million. This is Rs 1.3 million more than the Smart (Optional) variant equipped with the 42 kWh battery pack.
Similarly, the Long Range Excellence variant, powered by a 51 kWh battery, is priced at Rs 7.696 million. The price difference between the two long-range variants stands at Rs 700,000.
The Creta EV is available with two motor options. The smaller battery variant gets a 99 kW electric motor and the larger battery variant is paired with a 126 kW motor.
The difference is not only in battery capacity but also in power output.
The 99 kW motor variant is subject to 5% road construction duty, 20% customs duty, and 15% excise duty in Nepal. In addition, 13% VAT is applied after these taxes.
For the more powerful 126 kW variant, the government levies 5% road construction duty, 30% customs duty, and 20% excise duty. After these taxes, 13% VAT is added.
Due to the higher tax bracket on the more powerful motor, the price difference rises to around Rs 1.3 million between variants.
The Creta EV comes equipped with Hyundai’s i-Pedal driving technology. This feature was first introduced successfully in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and is now offered in the Creta EV.

With i-Pedal, the vehicle can be driven using only the accelerator. Pressing the accelerator moves the vehicle forward, while releasing it activates regenerative braking to slow down and stop the car. This feature is particularly useful in urban driving conditions.
The Creta EV also supports bi-directional charging. With its Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, the SUV can be used as a mobile power source.
Hyundai has added an Active Air Flap in the front bumper. This gives the EV a closed-off, high-tech look and also improves energy efficiency.
The SUV is equipped with Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The system detects potential obstacles around the vehicle and alerts the driver.
For gear selection, the Creta EV uses a column-mounted shift-by-wire system, replacing the traditional gear knob. The parking function is integrated into the gear lever.
Ventilated front seats are also provided, helping reduce discomfort during hot weather. Both front seats come with this feature.
The Creta EV is a feature-loaded model. Hyundai has equipped it with a premium 8-speaker sound system from US-based Bose, enhancing the in-cabin audio experience.
