KATHMANDU: Toyota has officially unveiled the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ at the 47th Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) 2026 in Thailand. The SUV is set to go on sale by the end of this month.

The Land Cruiser FJ is offered in a single 4WD 2.7 variant in Thailand, with prices starting at 1.269 million Baht (around Rs 5.83 million).

Unlike most compact SUVs, the FJ is built on Toyota’s IMV0 ladder-frame platform. This body-on-frame construction also allows it to be classified as a truck-based SUV in Thailand for tax benefits.

In terms of size, the SUV measures 4,610 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width and 1,890 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,580 mm.

The design follows a boxy and rugged theme, inspired by the older FJ Cruiser. It features a bold front grille with Toyota lettering, C-shaped LED DRLs and optional round headlamps. The side profile gets a stepped window line and thick C-pillar, while the rear comes with an octagonal side-hinged tailgate and a spare wheel mounted outside.

Inside, the Land Cruiser FJ gets a 7-inch digital instrument display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features include a six-speaker sound system, dual-zone climate control with PM2.5 filter, synthetic leather seats, an 8-way powered driver seat, manual passenger seat and multiple USB Type-C ports.

The SUV also offers MOLLE-style mounting panels in the cargo area, allowing users to secure tools and outdoor gear.

Under the hood, it is powered by a 2.7-liter 2TR-FE petrol engine. It produces 166 PS and 245 Nm of torque, similar to the Toyota Fortuner.

The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift. The FJ comes with a part-time four-wheel-drive system and a low-range transfer case, with hardware shared from the Toyota Hilux.

United Traders Syndicate Pvt. Ltd., Toyota’s authorized distributor in Nepal, is expected to launch the Land Cruiser FJ by the end of 2026. The 2,694cc petrol SUV will be expensive in Nepal due to high customs and taxes, despite a lower price in Thailand.
