KATHMANDU: Toyota has released the first teaser of the next-generation Hilux, confirming that the popular pickup truck will make its global debut on July 28 in India.
The teaser shows the new Hilux driving through forest trails and deep water, highlighting its off-road capabilities.
The new model is based on Toyota’s existing IMV platform but adopts a more rugged and modern design. It features a larger honeycomb grille, slimmer LED headlamps connected by a black trim, muscular wheel arches, a redesigned tailgate and new C-shaped LED taillights.
Inside, the Hilux receives a redesigned cabin with a 12.3-inch floating touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, new three-spoke steering wheel, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Under the hood, the pickup is expected to retain Toyota’s 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine, with reports suggesting it could also be paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system already available in the latest Fortuner.
Toyota is expected to reveal full specifications and market availability when the model is officially unveiled.
