KATHMANDU: The Transport Management Office in Itahari has launched an online payment system and a token system for license services.
Koshi Province Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, Indramani Parajuli, inaugurated the service on Monday.
The office said the new system was introduced to make services easier and reduce heavy crowd pressure at the office.
Now, service seekers can pay all vehicle-related taxes online. This removes the need to visit banks and the office for payments.
After contacting the office and linking vehicle details in the VRS system, users can pay taxes from home.
The office has also introduced a token system for driving license services. With this, visitors no longer need to wait in long lines. They can receive service according to their token number.
Itahari is the first office in Koshi Province to implement both online payment and token services.
Minister Parajuli said the system will gradually expand to other districts as well.
He added that the provincial government is moving towards easier and more transparent public services by ending the old practice of waiting in long queues.
