KATHMANDU: The Gandaki Province government has fixed ride-sharing fares for two-wheelers and four-wheelers operating within the province.
The fare rates were set by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management following the implementation of ride-sharing regulations approved by the provincial cabinet on May 5.
For two-wheelers, the base fare has been set at Rs 30, while the per-kilometer charge is Rs 16.85. This means passengers will pay a minimum fare of Rs 46.85 regardless of the travel distance.
Ride-sharing companies must provide a 10 percent discount on petrol-powered motorcycles and a 15 percent discount on electric two-wheelers.
Similarly, four-wheelers will have a starting fare of Rs 60 and a distance charge of Rs 48.5 per kilometer. The minimum fare for trips up to 2 km has been fixed at Rs 156.5, which passengers must pay even for shorter rides.
The regulation also requires ride-sharing operators to offer a 10 percent discount on petrol-powered cars and a 15 percent discount on electric vehicles.
The ministry has directed ride-sharing companies to incorporate the approved fares and discounts into their mobile applications.
