KATHMANDU: The government’s decision to impose tax on the CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight) value of electric vehicles from the fiscal year 2026/27 budget has increased the prices of premium electric vehicles.

Luxury EV models from brands like BMW, Tesla, BYD and Hyundai have become more expensive. However, some brands are yet to announce their revised prices.

Amid this situation, the price of MG’s premium brand IM’s coupe-style crossover SUV, the IM6, has increased by Rs 300,000. The vehicle, which was earlier priced at Rs 7.8 million, now costs Rs 8.1 million.

With a limited price increase, the MG IM6 has emerged as one of the most affordable options in the premium EV segment. The vehicle offers features and technology generally found in EVs priced above Rs 10 million.

Premium features at Rs 8.2 million

The MG IM6 comes with advanced technology and premium features. It includes automated parking, four-wheel steering, advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), AI-based cabin technology, rain and night driving modes, digital chassis technology, Continental brake calipers and a large 26.3-inch display.

Rear-wheel drive experience

The MG IM6 comes with a rear-wheel-drive system, offering better driving balance and handling. Its steering response and driving dynamics make it suitable for customers looking for a sporty driving experience.

Despite its large size, the four-wheel steering system helps in easier maneuvering, especially in urban areas.

Premium design and spacious cabin

The MG IM6 features a coupe-style crossover design with inspiration from global premium vehicles. Its long wheelbase and spacious cabin provide strong road presence and comfort.

The vehicle measures 4,904 mm in length, 1,988 mm in width and 1,669 mm in height. It has a 2,950 mm wheelbase and offers 646 liters of rear boot space.

Strong safety package

Safety is another key highlight of the MG IM6. The company has equipped the vehicle with more than 23 ADAS safety features.

It includes automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind spot detection and seven airbags.

Large battery and long range

The MG IM6 is equipped with a 75 kWh battery pack. It offers a WLTP range of up to 450 km on a single charge.
The vehicle is powered by a 109 kW electric motor producing 450 Nm of peak torque. The MG IM6 is ​​not only a spacious SUV but also comes equipped with several advanced features.
