KATHMANDU: Cimex Inc. Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributor of BYD vehicles in Nepal, imported 718 units of cars in the last 15 days of December, according to customs data.

The company imported a total of 3,448 vehicles between January 1 and December 31, 2025. Of this figure, 2,730 units were imported from January 1 to December 15, with the remaining 718 units arriving in the final two weeks of the year.

BYD maintained a strong lead over competitors by significantly increasing imports towards the end of December. In 2024, Cimex had imported 3,530 units of vehicles. The 2025 figure is only 82 units lower than the previous year.

Popular models imported during the year included the Atto 3 SUV, Dolphin hatchback, Atto 1, and the Atto 2 SUV. Among these, the Atto 2 recorded the highest import volume in recent months.

Cimex also brought in the Sealion 7, Shark pickup, and M6 MPV during the year. Despite rising competition in the EV segment, BYD was able to keep its annual import volume nearly unchanged.

The introduction of new models at lower price points supported the company’s performance. BYD launched the Atto 1 and Atto 2 simultaneously in August, which contributed to maintaining import levels comparable to last year.
