KATHMANDU: Yamaha has officially started production of the EC-06 electric scooter in India. The model is being manufactured at River’s production facility in Karnataka, marking a key step in Yamaha’s electric two-wheeler strategy.
The EC-06 is based on the River Indie electric scooter. It is powered by a 4 kWh battery, offering a claimed range of up to 160 km. The scooter uses a 6.7 kW electric motor and has a top speed of 90 km/h.
In terms of design, the EC-06 closely follows the River Indie’s styling. It features a rectangular headlamp, a flat footboard, and a single-piece seat. The scooter also offers 24.5 liters of under-seat storage, making it practical for daily use.

Feature highlights include an LCD instrument cluster, multiple riding modes, and a reverse assist function for easier maneuvering in tight spaces.
Yamaha is expected to launch the EC-06 in the Indian market soon. Official pricing and variant details are yet to be announced.
