KATHMANDU: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has expressed its commitment to supporting the development of Nepal’s tourism road infrastructure.
The commitment came during a courtesy meeting between Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah and ADB President Masato Kanda on Tuesday. The two sides discussed ways to strengthen the six-decade partnership between Nepal and the multilateral lender.
According to the Prime Minister’s Press and Research Adviser Deepa Dahal, the meeting lasted around 30 minutes. Prime Minister Shah said Nepal aims to accelerate development through good governance and greater transparency.
The discussions focused on promoting hydropower and tourism as key pillars of Nepal’s economy. Both sides also explored cooperation in digitalization and tourism road infrastructure.
President Kanda reaffirmed ADB’s long-term commitment to Nepal’s economic development. He said the bank will continue supporting the country’s growth and infrastructure priorities as a long-term development partner.
Kanda also highlighted Nepal’s economic potential, strong public mandate, and young leadership. He said ADB remains committed to supporting Nepal’s journey towards sustainable economic growth and prosperity.
