KATHMANDU: BYD’s premium brand Denza has been spotted testing the Denza Z Track Edition in China ahead of its global debut on July 9 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.

The Track Edition features a more aggressive aerodynamic package than the standard Denza Z. It gets larger front air vents, a longer front splitter, additional hood vents, a rear diffuser, and a large rear wing. The upgrades are designed to improve downforce, cooling, and high-speed stability.

The performance-focused model is powered by BYD’s tri-motor electric drivetrain. It combines one 500 kW front motor with two rear motors producing 680 kW, for a total output of 1,180 kW (1,582 hp).

According to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Denza Z Track Edition has a top speed of 350 km/h. Denza also claims the car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in under two seconds.

The Denza Z lineup includes three versions: a convertible, a hardtop coupe, and the new Track Edition. All variants share the same powertrain, while the Track Edition gains its performance advantage through aerodynamic improvements, chassis tuning, and weight optimization.

The sports car will also feature BYD’s latest technologies, including the e³ tri-motor control platform, DiSus-M magnetorheological active suspension, God’s Eye (DiPilot) 5.0 driver assistance system, and flash-charging capability.

The convertible measures 4,780 mm in length with a 2,780 mm wheelbase. The hardtop version sits 20 mm lower, while the Track Edition is 4,870 mm long due to its enhanced aerodynamic package.

Although the Denza Z is expected to be a low-volume model, it will serve as a flagship performance car to strengthen the Denza brand in global markets, particularly in Europe and North America, according to Chinese media reports.
