KATHMANDU: Bajaj Auto is developing an all-new electric motorcycle platform as part of the next phase of its EV product plan.

The new in-house architecture will support multiple segments, ranging from commuter bikes to high-performance models, according Autocar India.

The new electric motorcycle is being developed entirely in-house. Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director of Bajaj Auto, said that the company is putting “vigorous R&D effort” into electric motorcycles. “There are some use cases, both in the entry-level and high-end sporting space, in India and globally. But these are very difficult to predict. Still, we are in this game,” he said.

Sharma added that the electric motorcycle is being developed entirely in-house, leveraging learnings from the Chetak program and combining it with Bajaj’s core engineering expertise from its ICE motorcycle program.

This initiative is part of Bajaj’s future EV roadmap, which also includes expanding the Chetak e-scooter lineup.
