KATHMANDU: Concrete paving in the Daunne section of the Narayanghat–Butwal Road has gained momentum. Construction teams are working late into the night to complete the remaining works.
The Narayanghat–Butwal Road Project aims to complete major sections, including Daunne, by mid-April 2026.
Authorities say road users may face inconvenience for the next few months. Traffic conditions are expected to improve after completion, making the road safer, smoother, and more durable. Drivers have been asked to cooperate with traffic management.
Night-time work has also started in other pending areas. The Daunne stretch is one of the most difficult sections due to hilly terrain. It is being upgraded to a three-lane road under the 6/4-lane East–West Highway project.
From Gaindakot to Daunne, 33 out of 34 bridges have been completed. Project information officer Shiva Khanal said the Arunkhola Bridge is the only one remaining and is in its final stage.
Culvert works in the Daunne section are close to completion. Overall physical progress of the project has reached 76 percent. A three-lane road is being built along a 14-kilometer stretch in Daunne.
