KATHMANDU : Nepal’s Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has introduced a new feature that allows driving license holders to download a PDF copy of their license online.
The facility is available through the Electronic Driving License and Vehicle Registration System (eDLVRS), which came into operation on July 17.
The department has launched separate eDLVRS websites for all seven provinces. License holders can access the portal of their respective province and download a PDF version of their driving license.
However, the downloaded PDF is not yet accepted as a valid license during traffic checks.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, there has been no official decision recognizing the PDF version as a valid driving license. At present, only the license available through the Nagarik App and the physical smart driving license equipped with a QR code or chip are accepted during traffic inspections.
The Department of Transport Management has also not issued any formal notice stating that the downloadable PDF can be used as an official license.
How to download the license PDF
To download the PDF version of a driving license:
- Visit the eDLVRS website of your respective province.
- Click on Electronic Driving License.
- On the homepage, select Driving License Details from the lower-left section.
- Enter your name, driving license number and date of birth.
- Verify the OTP sent to the mobile number registered with the license.
- Once your license details appear, click the Download option to save the PDF file.
