KATHMANDU: Porsche’s upcoming electric Boxster has been spotted testing at the Nurburgring in Germany without camouflage for the first time.
The new 718 Boxster is expected to become Porsche’s first fully electric two-seat sports car. The latest sighting also confirms that the model is still on track despite earlier reports that its development could be cancelled.
Media reports say Porsche CEO Michael Leiters confirmed in August that the electric 718 will be built, calling it an important future model for the company.
The test car retains the familiar Boxster shape but gets several new design details. These include sharper front air intakes, recessed headlights, larger side skirts and smaller side openings. There are also no exhaust outlets at the rear.
The electric Boxster is expected to share its platform with Audi’s upcoming electric TT successor. Porsche is expected to launch the new model in 2027.
The latest prototype appears close to its production design, although some details could still change before the final launch.
