KATHMANDU: The upcoming Maruti Suzuki WagonR facelift has been spotted testing in India under heavy camouflage. While the exterior design appears largely unchanged, the major update is expected under the bonnet.
The facelift is likely to get Maruti Suzuki’s new 1.2-liter three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine. It could replace the existing 1.2-liter four-cylinder unit. The new engine is expected to improve fuel efficiency, although its peak power may be lower than the current engine.
Swift and Dzire have already transitioned to Maruti’s newer 1.2L three-cylinder engine, followed recently by the Baleno facelift. WagonR now looks set to be next. Petrol and CNG options are expected to continue.
The test vehicle appears to be a mid-spec variant. It features turn indicators on the front fenders, while fog lamps and a rear wiper are not visible.
The WagonR facelift is expected to launch later in 2026 in India.
